Job summary

Memorial Hermann seeks a supplemental Medical Technologist or MLT to support the Alvin Freestanding ER on nights. Schedule is 12 hour shifts on nights. Must be ASCP/AMT MLS or ASCP/AMT MLT.

Position is responsible for performing various laboratory tests/procedures as assigned. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in biological science and relevant certification eligibility, with experience in a fast-paced clinical lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological science (Equivalency Required for Foreign Education)
• ASCP/AMT MLS or ASCP MLS, AMT MLS, CLS/MLS certifications are required or eligible
• NAACLS MLS program completion within last 5 years or equivalent laboratory experience in relevant disciplines
• MLT(ASCP) or CLS(ASCP) certification eligible after degree
• CM or ASCP Certification Eligible

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures and corrective actions.
• Manages daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, results reporting and distribution, and related duties.
• Interacts with hospital personnel, physicians and patients regarding specimens and orders.
• Complies with policies, procedures and standards set by governmental and accrediting agencies (TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, CLIA).
• Promotes safe patient care, cost efficiency and participation in the PI process.
• Ensures safety and compliance with Memorial Hermann policies within budget and productivity constraints.
• Supports professional growth, mentorship and service to patients and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned as part of team responsibilities.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in biological science

Equivalency required for foreign education

NAACLS accredited MLS program within last 5 years

MLT(ASCP) certification or CLS(ASCP) certification

CM or ASCP Certification Eligible
