Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital in Cleveland is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician IV to join the Lab Administration team. The role supports high-quality patient care in a Magnet-designated facility, performing and interpreting complex tests while maintaining strict QA and regulatory compliance.

The caregiver will educate and train staff, ensure proper specimen handling, documentation, and adherence to CLIA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology
• Meets the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel grandfathering clause
• Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided
• Education will be verified
• Education outside the United States requires translation and NACES evaluation

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
• Perform laboratory testing in a compliant manner
• Maintain regulatory knowledge and awareness as it pertains to specific job duties
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
• Assume responsibility for and take action regarding any quality control or quality assurance issues as it pertains to specific job duties
• Maintain instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications
• Assume responsibility for good documentation practices and maintain clear and legible records
• Perform proficiency testing in compliance with CLIA regulations
• Participate in continuing education and annual competency assessment
• Follow established policies whenever test systems are not within acceptable performance levels
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and take corrective action or notify supervisors
• Function as an educator and provide instruction and training on theory and procedures
