Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. This full-time night shift position (Wed-Wed, 21:00-07:30, 8-on-6-off) focuses on performing tests that inform diagnosis and treatment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related sciences, at least one year of experience, and certification or eligibility for board certification (ASCP/AMT/NCA). Candidates must obtain certification within 12 months of employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
• Requires one (1) year of relevant experience.
• Certification or eligibility for board certification by ASCP; AMT; NCA or equivalent certification.
• Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
• Ability to maintain quality control and other records.
• Ability to use computer to enter and retrieve test results.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests on patient specimens and provides information for diagnosis, treatment or prevention of diseases.
• Maintains records and uses independent judgment to generate acceptable test results within quality control standards.
• May participate in research and development activities and act as a resource for staff.
• Instructs students and staff on laboratory procedures and techniques.
