Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Part-Time Night unit clerk/PCA to support the patient care team in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will perform direct patient care under a Clinical Nurse's direction and handle essential unit clerical tasks.

The role includes greeting and assisting physicians, patients, families and vendors, maintaining accurate patient records, and scheduling tests or procedures as needed. CPR and PCA training may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires knowledge of principles of infection control.
• Requires basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and support the patient care team.
• Perform unit clerical duties and maintain patient records.
• Schedule tests and procedures as needed and sign patients in/out of the unit.
• Assist with ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
