Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington, IN seeks a patient care assistant/unit secretary to provide direct patient care and clerical support under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse. You will ensure a clean, orderly environment and assist with scheduling tests and maintaining records, while supporting the patient care team and possibly participating in suicide prevention duties.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPR may be required, and completion of the IU Health PCA education

Qualifications

• CPR certification may be required.
• May complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiar with infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and unit clerical duties.
• Schedule tests and procedures and maintain patient records.
• Sign patients in and out and handle equipment delivery.
• Provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
• Assist physicians, patients, families, and vendors with information and directions.
