Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a night shift, full-time Med/Surg Charge Nurse to lead nursing care in the unit and supervise staff. Responsibilities include assuring safe patient flow, resource use, and policy adherence, with a focus on high-quality patient care.

Requirements include an accredited nursing degree (associate or diploma), NM RN license, and BLS within 14 days of hire. A bachelor’s degree and national certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or Diploma of Nursing.
• One year of Charge Nurse experience in hospital setting or more than one year in clinical/management roles.
• BLS certification obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer prior to direct patient care.
• Valid NM Nursing license or NM compact license within 90 days of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
• National Certification in clinical specialty care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Charge RN is responsible and accountable for the practice of Professional Nursing, including patient and staff management in the assigned area.
• Manages efficient patient flow, appropriate use of supplies and other operational functions.
• Collaborates with unit managers and/or directors to develop and revise unit policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Serves as departmental liaison and first line of contact with patients, providers and staff.
• Adheres to policies and procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
