Job summary

Smart Foodservice Stores is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate driver assignments and activities to ensure efficient distribution and service to customers. You will escalate issues promptly to managers and sales, reassign routes, and verify drivers use required POD scanners.

The role requires at least one year in transportation or logistics, strong communication, and attention to detail. Expect a hands-on office and warehouse environment, with occasional shifts that may include early hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of transportation or logistics experience.
• Effective communication, both verbal and written.
• Excellent telephone and customer service ability.
• Math, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Problem solving and critical thinking abilities for limited scope issues.
• Strong teamwork and ability to support others in the department.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate driver activities and shuttle assignments to resolve service issues.
• Escalate late dispatches, breakdowns and other service failures to managers.
• Reassign routes to solve service issues and ensure POD scanner usage.
• Coordinate trailer, tractor, and backhaul assignments for efficiency.
• Visually inspect drivers for proper uniform and PPE.
• Notify supervisor or safety specialist after accidents or injuries.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
