Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a PRN Night RN for Labor & Delivery to provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, ensure patient safety, and support new mothers and neonates.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree, an active RN license (TX or Compact), CPR, and ALS/ACLS certification, with 2 years of L&D experience or completion of the RN Residency/Fellowship program plus 1 year of L&D experience.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Must have two years of Labor & Delivery experience; OR Parkland’s RN Residency or Fellowship and one year of L&D experience.
• Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
• Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion from AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
• Must have ALS or ACLS certification on hire or placement in role.
• Must have one of: AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring certificate or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification.
• Must retake every two years: AWHONN Intermediate, Electronic Fetal Monitoring; NCC certs renewed every three years.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a patient advocate, maintaining patient rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences.
• Maintains knowledge of rules, regulations, and program requirements; ensures compliance.
• Performs patient assessments, recognizes changes, and implements timely interventions.
• Performs labor, delivery, cesarean, and immediate postpartum care; supports breastfeeding.
• Maintains documentation and handoffs; ensures accurate records in care documentation.
• Floats to areas within skillset and serves as a preceptor or trainer as needed.
• Keeps up with nursing practice developments and maintains licensure.
