Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience - B2 unit to work the night shift. The role focuses on data collection, basic care, and mobility to support discharge planning under RN supervision.

The PCA will perform essential patient care tasks, including vital signs, glucose testing, and ECG, while ensuring a clean, safe environment and adherence to infection control standards. Weekend/holiday shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Patient Care Assistant in acute care.
• Ability to collect patient data and vital signs.
• Knowledge of infection control practices.
• Comfort with basic clinical tasks under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient data and vital signs and report abnormal findings to the RN.
• Provide personal care including bathing, feeding, hydration, and hygiene.
• Turn, position, and mobilize patients to support mobility and comfort.
• Assist with care planning and nursing handoffs; document care in patient records.
• Maintain a clean, safe care environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Support weekend and holiday staffing as required by guidelines.
