Albany Med Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience unit to work night shifts. The role focuses on assisting with basic patient care, data collection, and safe handling of patients to support discharge progression.

The PCA will perform tasks under the RN, including basic assessments, personal care, and data documentation, ensuring a clean and safe environment. Training in infection control and patient safety is provided as part of onboarding.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• 6 months related experience in a health care setting or completion of certified nurse assistant course and/or experience as a paramedic is desired.
• Honest, punctual, and performs the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
• Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with patients, family members, employees and others.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use of hands for various job functions.

Responsabilités

• Collect patient data, vital signs, and intake/output.
• Provide personal care including bathing, grooming, feeding, and hydration.
• Assist with turning, positioning, and mobilizing patients.
• Perform point-of-care testing and basic supportive nursing tasks.
• Document all care in the patient record and report abnormal findings to the RN.
