Job summary

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center's Emergency Department is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to provide administrative support and frontline customer service in a busy Glendale, AZ care area. The role coordinates admissions, discharges, and documentation while facilitating communication among physicians, nurses, and other departments.

This is a full-time night shift position (6pm–6:30am) with weekend/holiday rotation and shift differentials.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in hospital or physician office setting.
Excellent organizational, human relations, and communication skills.
Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and during employment.

Responsibilities

Perform receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective communication throughout the department.
Process patient admissions, bed assignments, and print patient labels; order outside records as needed.
Maintain complete patient records, chart forms, and patient education materials; ensure accessibility.
Coordinate patient discharges and arrange procedures or treatments prior to discharge.
Maintain adequate supplies; reconcile supply orders and requisitions.
Monitor use of electronic equipment like patient ID scanners and laptops; ensure accountability.
Work under local supervision in a fast-paced, customer-service driven environment.
