Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates and create a welcoming environment for customers.
• Assist customers by answering questions about products and services in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with informed suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials and promotions.
• Check product quality and freshness; review sell-by dates and take action as needed.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide customers with fresh products.
• Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report items needing repair; practice preventive maintenance.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and safety risks.
• Report any illegal activity or safety concerns to store management.
