Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a department associate to support customers and associates in a fast-paced retail environment. You will answer questions, help with product selections, and ensure product freshness and safety.

The role emphasizes helpful customer service, strong math basics, and reliability. Training is provided for product knowledge and store procedures, with opportunities to learn across departments.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Any retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to meet customers' needs and inform about specials.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; record temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks, issues and illegal activity.
• Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
