Job summary

Foley Fish in New Bedford, MA is seeking a Night Freezer Captain to manage inventory and movement of frozen seafood. You will verify product quality on receipt and position items for palletization, ensuring temperature control and accurate shipping preparation.

The role requires forklift/pallet jack certification, ability to lift 50 lbs, and comfort working nights in a cold environment while maintaining safety and food-safety standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Certified to operate pallet jack or forklift.
• Able to lift at a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Basic math skills; Basic Computer Skills
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate with others;
• Dependable work attendance and committed to accuracy and attention to detail
• Work in cold temperatures ranging from -10 to 50 degrees

Responsibilities

• Read customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved.
• Receive and break down pallets from shipments and move to storage.
• Convey product from receiving to storage or designated areas.
• Sort and place product on pallets according to size, type or product code.
• Maintain temperature with dry ice and ensure correct packaging.
• Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated rooms.
• Assemble customer orders and prepare for shipping, labeling boxes.
• Weigh or count items to confirm conformance to requests.
• Report inventory balance and discrepancies; ensure accuracy and safety.
