Job summary

Saint-Gobain in Jackson, MI, is seeking an Operator II to support safe operation of PVC extrusion lines and produce quality products. The role emphasizes operator skill development, continuous learning of the extrusion process, and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities include startup/shutdown, line adjustments, advanced quality testing, data entry into MES, and mentoring new operators. The position runs on a 12-hour night shift with a 2-2-3 rotation and a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of manufacturing experience with machine operation (lathe/mill or extrusion similar)
• 2–3 years of Quality Assurance experience with inspecting, gauging, and measuring
• 1 year of extrusion or similar process experience

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, quality, housekeeping, 5S and KOI performance for the line as directed
• Follow safety policies; maintain a clean, organized work area (5S)
• Perform line start-up/shutdown/changeovers with limited supervision
• Make material changes and color changes with minimal supervision
• Conduct advanced quality testing per VSI standards
• Input basic production data into MES (Factory+) system
• Troubleshoot routine production issues
• Assist in training new operators and packers
• Pack panels and accessories to standards and assist in break relief
• Participate in Kaizen events and other duties as assigned
