Job summary

Appling Healthcare in Baxley, GA is seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse to assess patient needs, implement and monitor care plans, and participate in triage and shift handoffs during the 7p-7a schedule.

The RN will review orders, administer medications per policy, communicate with families and staff, and aid in discharge teaching while maintaining chart accuracy and patient safety per DNV standards.

Qualifications

• Current RN/LPN license in the State of Georgia (GA).
• BLS certification required (must obtain within 90 days of hire).
• CPI certification required (must obtain within 90 days of hire).
• ACLS certification required (must obtain within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Creates and reviews care plans.
• Ensures medical plans, medications, treatments, and nurse notes comply with physician orders.
• Updates and revises plans of care based on changes in medical orders and policies.
• Completes triage as soon as possible.
• Performs patient assessments at triage and as conditions change.
• Follows unit-based and age-appropriate guidelines for assessments.
• Notifies Nurse Manager of potential crisis situations.
• Informs providers about significant changes in patient conditions.
• Monitors patients for changes and notifies Nurse Manager of shift changes.
• Processes provider orders promptly and prioritizes STAT orders.
• Participates in nurse rounding and reporting before shift change.
• Assesses physical and psychosocial growth and development.
• Gives medications per hospital policy (IV piggyback and IV push).
• Collects lab specimens and notifies physician of results.
• Assists with patient care (wound care, activities of daily living, meals).
• Communicates updates to families and medical staff.
• Instructs patient and family on discharge process.
• Completes patient rounds every hour.
• Performs chart checks for documentation and orders per DNV standards.
• Completes patient documentation every shift.
• Charts medications and other pertinent information.
• Enters patient charges every shift.
• Completes unit safety checks and reports safety issues.
• Orders patient supplies and materials.
• Acts as a preceptor for nursing students and orients new hires.
• Keeps workstation clean and assists with housekeeping duties.
• Performs other job-related duties as requested.
