Job summary

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in Clackamas, Oregon seeks an Overnight Veterinary Technician Assistant to join the Emergency/ICU team. 4 x 10 hour shifts, 8pm–6am, Sunday to Wednesday, with competitive hourly pay and a $3.33 overnight differential.

The role blends customer service with compassionate patient care for hospitalized and outpatient cases. Responsibilities include triage, collecting and processing samples, maintaining medical records, assisting with euthanasia, and handling

Qualifications

• One year of veterinary experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent listening and written communication skills.
• Compassion for pets and people, and respect for others' choices.
• Proven decision making skills to choose the most appropriate action.
• Ability to integrate new information into problem solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and exposure to pet-related hazards.

Responsibilities

• Triage of emergency cases
• Collecting laboratory samples such as: blood, urine and feces
• Processing laboratory samples in-house
• Preparing laboratory samples for outside labs
• Helping clients through the euthanasia process
• Answering multi-line telephones
• Managing medical records, reports and correspondence.
• Additional duties may be required based on the needs of the business.
