Job summary

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is seeking a full-time ER/ICU Technician Assistant in Clackamas, OR. Compensation ranges from $21 to $25 per hour with a schedule Thursday through Saturday, 12pm–12am.

The role blends client service with compassionate patient care and supports doctors and technicians in a busy emergency department. Requirements include at least one year of veterinary experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 40

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary experience is required.
• Excellent listening and written/verbal communication skills are essential.
• Compassion for pets and people, with respect for others’ choices.
• Proven decision making and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Triage of emergency cases and assist clinicians.
• Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces).
• Perform in-house lab processing and prepare samples for external labs.
• Assist clients through euthanasia process and manage communications.
• Answer multi-line phones and maintain medical records and correspondence.
