Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock associate to transport freight across dock areas and assist in loading and unloading to trailers. The role involves operating forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck, verifying freight documents, and securing loads for safe transit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Prior warehousing and/or forklift experience preferred
• If hostler/yard duties required, experience preferred
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, and to open trailer doors
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift
• Work independently or as part of a team
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck
• Verify freight documentation matches description
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation
• Perform hostling duties if required
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies
