Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in the Sacramento area is seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.

You will follow procedures, scan shipments, and maintain accurate documentation in a fast-paced multimodal terminal environment. This role requires a valid forklift certification, at least 3 years of dock or warehouse experience, strong English communication, and the physical stamina to work 8–12 hour shifts, including

Qualifications

• Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating).
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
• Able to read labels and perform basic arithmetic for freight counts.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight with sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and warehouse areas.
• Pack, label, scan, and track freight for shipping and documentation integrity.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading and support dock productivity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues; maintain a safe dock environment.
• Mentor developing Material Handlers and ensure adherence to safety policies.
