Job summary

American University is seeking a Night Desk Assistant to support Housing & Residence Life in the 11:00 PM–7:00 AM shift. This part-time, 10-month role operates within a 24-hour residence hall system, primarily during evenings and overnight hours.

Ideal candidates are enrolled undergraduates in good standing, able to maintain confidentiality, and capable of professional communication with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate enrollment at American University (12–17 credits per semester).
• GPA at or above 2.50 across terms.
• Must be in good conduct standing with the university.
• Submit HR and payroll paperwork via Workday.
• Attend DA staff training and information sessions.

Responsibilities

• Provide front desk customer service and assist residents with inquiries.
• Enforce policies and assist in safe living environment.
• Check residents in/out using StarRez and manage access.
• Maintain desk organization, logs, and supplies.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other staff as needed.
