Job summary

Berkeley Heights Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to ensure the cleanliness of the school building and grounds. The Custodian will receive daily direction from the Head Custodian and is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Job description

Reports To

The Custodian receives daily direction from the school Head Custodian. In the absence of the Head Custodian or Principal the worker will receive direction from the Supervisor of Building and Grounds, and/or the Business Administrator/Board Secretary.

Job Goal

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness of the school building and grounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful Criminal History Clearance.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or appropriate employment authorization.
• Experience as a school custodian, or equivalent in custodial service at other institutions and firms.
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the basic techniques of custodial service.
• Alternative qualifications deemed appropriate by the Board.
• Certificate of good health by school doctor.
• Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports.
• Ability to communicate with others.
• Demonstrate aptitude for completion of assigned tasks.
• Good attendance and punctuality.
• Black Seal license (one-year time allowance).
• Valid NJ Driver's License.

Salary

Salary: as per negotiated contract agreement.
