Job summary

Auburn-Washburn Unified School District 437 is seeking a dependable Custodian (Night) to maintain a safe, clean, and attractive learning environment at Washburn Rural High School. The role is full-time, 8 hours daily, 12 months per year, with benefits eligibility.

The wage is $10.50–$15.50 per hour, depending on experience. Responsibilities include building maintenance, cleaning classrooms and common areas, minor repairs, and safeguarding facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with janitorial maintenance preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow simple directions.
• Extensive janitorial experience, some at custodian level.
• Experience as a semi-skilled handyman welcomed.
• Ability to plan and supervise others.
• Ability to get along well with others.

Responsibilities

• Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovel, plow, and/or sand walks and steps.
• Check exit doors and panic bars during occupancy.
• Raise the US and KS flags by 8:00am and lower by 3:30pm.
• Clean classrooms daily and dust furniture and woodwork.
• Clean corridors after school and during the day when needed.
• Scrub, disinfect, and clean toilets, fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
• Wash windows inside and outside at least twice yearly.
• Maintain grounds and perform yard work as needed.
• Perform routine janitorial duties and ensure attendance.
