Job summary

MercyOne Centerville Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant – Medical/Surgical to deliver compassionate nursing care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse at our 25-bed rural hospital. The position requires a 12-hour night shift with rotating weekends and holidays.

You will perform patient care from infant to geriatric, assist with feeding and trays, transport patients, stock supplies, and support the care team with a strong emphasis on safety and patient experience

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide certificate required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• BLS and Iowa Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care activities and related non-professional services for patients.
• Cares for patients from infant to geriatric according to unit scope.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and maintenance.
• Assesses patient safety needs; safety is priority.
• Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays; may float.
• Assists with unit cleaning and removal of outdated products.
• Passes food trays and assists patients with feeding.
• Transports patients using wheelchair or gurney.
• Keeps patient rooms stocked with supplies.
• Uses AIDET and prioritizes consumer experience.
• Assists other staff and supports care of patients.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
