Job summary

Stanford Blood Center, part of Stanford Health Care, seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for an overnight histocompatibility role in Palo Alto. The position performs highly complex HLA testing for organ transplantation and includes crossmatching, troubleshooting, and reporting results.

The role requires California CLS or CHS license; HLA experience is preferred, with training provided for those new to HLA. An overnight schedule Mon-Fri, with a shift differential and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• HLA expertise and related protocols.
• Ability to interpret complex histocompatibility results.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform HLA antibody identification and crossmatching, including deceased donor workups.
• Test specimens, analyze, interpret, and report results; investigate QC trends.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and assays; document procedures.
• Serve as advanced technical resource and provide training to CLS staff.
• Leading role in training CLS I and junior team members.
