Job summary

Stanford Health Care's Stanford Blood Center seeks a day shift supervisor for the HLA Serology/Molecular laboratory. You will supervise operations, schedule work, review QA/QC data, and ensure regulatory compliance on-site.

The ideal candidate holds a CHT license, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and at least five years in histocompatibility testing with prior supervisory experience. This on-site leadership role supports critical transplant-related testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or life science and five years of histocompatibility lab required.
• CHT certification from ACHI required; CHS certification preferred.
• Must hold or qualify for California license: Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (MTR) license or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MTA) license; license must be granted within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the operations of the HLA Serology/Molecular laboratory.
• Plan and handle scheduling for day-to-day work activities, evaluate work performed, and troubleshoot problems.
• Review quality assurance and quality control data and take corrective action as needed.
• Ensure regulatory compliance including personnel qualifications and competency, test methods, and proficiency testing, and documentation.
• Monitor and evaluate testing systems and equipment for accuracy and reliability; take corrective actions.
• Maintain proficiency in HLA lab testing, review results, and sign out clinical test reports.
• Provide on-site supervision and electronic consultation as needed to resolve technical problems.
• Provide administrative leadership to the HLA lab; represent the lab with SBC, transplant centers, and customers.
• Write, review, and update protocols; maintain procedure manuals; recommend staffing levels; introduce new procedures.
