Job summary

Appian is seeking a Cloud Engineer - Shift 1 to join our cloud operations team in Raleigh, NC. You will triage alerts, troubleshoot with engineers, and provide direct customer support on a night shift (5pm EST–2am EST or 1am EST–10am EST).

The role emphasizes improving monitoring, reliability, and system health through hands-on work. Required are a technical background, troubleshooting skills, and experience with Linux.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
• Hands-on technical background with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Foundational knowledge of networking (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Experience in a procedural environment with runbooks and processes.
• Comfortable with the Linux command line.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team and with customers.
• Willingness to work a night shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot, elevate, and resolve complex system and customer issues.
• Provide direct technical support to customers as needed.
• Proactively improve system health by identifying alert trends, enhancing monitoring, and contributing code to increase reliability and efficiency.
• Diagnose root causes and solve complex technical problems through hands-on troubleshooting.
