Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Observation Unit on the night shift (approximately 6pm–6am). The role involves direct patient care, assistance with admissions/discharges, and strict adherence to patient safety practices under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent and certification such as BLS; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School credentials are advantageous.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• CNA/NCMA/NCPCT certifications listed in requirements.
• Navy Hospital Corps School completion may be required.
• Emergency medical service credentials (EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic) desirable.
• Currently enrolled in a clinical program with at least one semester completed.
• Healthcare experience within the last 3 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support admissions/discharge under nurse direction.
• Observe patients and report changes to the nurse.
