Job summary

Barnard College is seeking a Community Safety Officer to patrol the campus Wednesday to Sunday, 11pm–7am, with Mondays and Tuesdays off. The role emphasizes access control, safety inspections, and immediate response to incidents, alarms, or hazards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 2+ years work experience.
• Able to communicate effectively and write clearly in English.
• Ability to stay composed and act professionally in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Periodically tours buildings and grounds to verify doors, windows and gates are secured.
• Communicate access concerns for documentation and repair actions.
• Maintain records of completed tasks and incident reports.
• Respond to disruptive behavior and health emergencies, providing aid as needed.
• Assist with fire alarm responses and safety protocols.
