Job summary

The Town of Blacksburg, VA is seeking an employee to perform semi-skilled work in the general maintenance of Transit buses, equipment and facilities. Work is supervised by the Crew Leader - Maintainer and Lead Mechanic and is essential during events.

The role includes evening/overnight shifts, a starting annual range of $35,278.00 to $36,703.00, and a $2 per hour shift premium. This position requires a high school diploma or GED and 1-3 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of experience in the maintenance and operation of large automotive equipment, or equivalent education/experience.
• Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory record.
• Safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing per FTA and DOT rules.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Washes bus exteriors using automated wash equipment.
• Details transit vehicles seasonally.
• Cleans bus interiors.
• Fuels vehicles in designated areas.
• Checks and fills fluid levels of transit vehicles.
• Maintains and orders supplies as needed.
