Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking a Per Diem Clinical Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). You will deliver safe, patient- and family-centered care to critically ill neonates, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Per diem status, no PTO accrual, hourly rate of $70.00, shifts include days with 12-hour coverage. Requirements include ADN (BSN preferred), active DC RN license, BLS, and NRP; 3+ years NICU bedside nursing is preferred.

Qualifications

• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum three years bedside RN experience in a NICU (Level III/IV preferred).
• Current, active RN license in the District of Columbia.
• BLS certification required.
• NRP certification required.
• National neonatal nursing certification (e.g., RNC-NIC) highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform neonatal assessments and develop care plans for critically ill neonates.
• Manage respiratory support including ventilation and HFNC.
• Establish and maintain vascular access and monitor hemodynamics.
• Administer high-risk neonatal medications per protocol.
• Support families and provide education on NICU care and equipment.
• Document care and coordinate with nursing teams.
