Job summary

Nicklaus Children’s in Florida seeks a registered nurse to assess, plan, implement and supervise neonatal patient care in line with unit policies and the Patient Bill of Rights.

The role involves collaborating with physicians and care teams, performing assessments, documenting care, administering medications safely, educating families, and ensuring accurate EHR entries while upholding infection prevention and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Florida RN licensure (or eNLC) active
• AHA BLS required to maintain active status
• NRP certification active within 1 year of hire
• Competency assessment within 6 months for CCU setting

Responsibilities

• Communicates patient progress and critical findings to physicians and care team
• Plans, implements and documents the care plan with multidisciplinary input
• Completes nursing assessments and performs reassessments as needed
• Provides basic neonatal care (feeding, bathing, diapering, IV start if needed) and responds to medical equipment timely
• Completes admission history and discharge planning per policy
• Accesses EHR and documents accurately and promptly
• Educates patient/family on health needs and treatments
• Follows orders and administers medications safely (six rights)
• Supports a safe, infection-conscious hand-off environment
• Assesses body systems to ensure safe, effective care with minimal errors
• Secures endotracheal tubes as applicable and monitors skin integrity
• Delivers shift-change bedside report and patient information
• Performs specimen collection
