Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an Assistant Patient Care Manager for the NICU at Comer Children’s Hospital. This 100% onsite role requires leadership over a designated care center with 24/7 PCM supervision and responsibility for patient flow, quality audits, and staff performance on night shifts.

The APCM will oversee staff, manage throughput, monitor budgets, and participate in quality improvement while ensuring safety and regulatory readiness on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience.
• Minimum of one year clinical experience in the NICU.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff interview and selection processes.
• Assist with orientation of new hires.
• Maximize care efficiency and throughput.
• Monitor budget and supplies.
• Participate in productivity evaluations and QI processes.
• Lead rounds and address patient satisfaction and safety.
• Ensure regulatory readiness and audits.
