Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an Assistant Patient Care Manager for the Birth Center/ Delivery Room to oversee operations and patient flow on a 100% onsite basis in the greater Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities include quality audits, MDIs, staff huddles, and delivering high-quality, cost-aware care under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager. Leadership and complex staff coordination are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience.
• Minimum of one year clinical experience in the area they are applying.
• Charge nurse experience with demonstrated leadership skills required and/or equivalent experience.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to maintain an open network of communication among staff, care center and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations and patient flow on the designated shift.
• Complete daily or shift quality audits and MDIs.
• Facilitate daily huddles with staff and direct delivery of patient-centered care.
• Support PCM with 24/7 unit coverage in absence of the PCM.
• Lead staff evaluations and performance management.
• Monitor budget for supplies and staff productivity.
• Develop staff education and competency validation efforts.
• Support staff retention and satisfaction initiatives.
