Job summary

First Baptist Church Aztec is seeking a Youth Pastor to lead the Student Ministry (grades 6-12) and supervise Next Gen leadership. The successful candidate will be a dedicated, growing Christian with a clear call to ministry and a passion for mentoring youth and families.

The role requires active pastoral work, teaching, preaching on occasions, and team-building with volunteers and church staff to advance the church’s mission and community impact.

Qualifications

• Teaching and equipping volunteers is required.
• Defined call to Ministry and licensure or ordination or willingness to pursue.
• Must maintain a daily walk with Christ and exemplify Biblical living.
• Strong communication skills and ability to develop healthy relationships with staff, families, and youth.
• Lifelong learner with willingness to pursue continuing education, conferences, and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Serve as integral member of the church’s pastoral team to support the Senior Pastor.
• Oversee Student Ministry (grades 6-12) and supervise Next Gen ministry leadership.
• Provide pastoral care to families and preach/teach as needed.
• Administer Next Gen ministry budget with integrity and efficiency.
• Ensure policy compliance prioritizing safety of Youth, Children, and Babies.
• Build a robust team of volunteers through training, delegation, and empowerment.
• Foster unity among ministry leads and volunteers to align with the church’s mission.
• Develop and implement a strategic vision for the ministry across age groups.
• Serve on Church Council and other committees as assigned; fill in for Senior Pastor when needed.
• Preach on occasions and assist senior pastor in sermon preparation.
• Evaluate Nursery Coordinator and other direct reports for growth and accountability.
