Job summary

SAIC is hiring a COMSEC Database Management Engineer in Springfield, VA to own data behind cryptographic accountability for a global federal mission. The role covers modernizing the CMCS data model, building a tiered, audit-driven architecture, and ensuring secure, auditable data flows.

You will operate and upgrade the current CMCS database, design the next generation, and provide Tier II/III support while integrating with KMI and federal identity systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline plus 9 years of experience; Master’s and 7 years; 4 additional years may substitute for the degree.
• 5 years of database engineering or development experience.
• Proven relational data modeling for transactional systems of record with audit trail architecture.
• Production DBA experience on Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL including backup and recovery and high availability.
• Advanced SQL and stored procedure development plus one general-purpose language for data services and automation.
• Experience building system-to-system interfaces — API, message-based, or ETL — with error handling and reconciliation.
• Legacy data migration experience: profiling, transformation design, and proof of migration completeness.

Responsibilities

• Operate the current CMCS database and application in production — availability, backup/recovery, performance tuning, patching, deployment.
• Design the Next-Generation CMCS data model: inventory, accounts, custodian and hand receipt chains, and audit history.
• Build a tiered architecture with classification-based access control at the data layer.
• Implement an append-only audit architecture with actor, timestamp, and source.
• Develop database services and APIs with version control and CI pipelines.
• Integrate CMCS with Key Management Infrastructure and federal access management systems.
• Migrate the legacy record with profiling, transformation rules, and automated reconciliation before cutover.
• Provide Tier II and Tier III application support for data errors and discrepancies.
