Job summary

TJFACT, performing COMSEC support for the U.S. Department of State, seeks a Crypto SME Operations Manager in Springfield, VA. You will lead cryptographic operations, oversee teams, and drive modernization while ensuring compliance with security policies and NIST controls.

This onsite, full-time role requires an active clearance, extensive cryptographic experience, and strong leadership in classified environments. Eligible for federal contracting programs and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Active security clearance.
• 8+ years in cryptographic operations or cryptographic engineering.
• Experience with CMCS, KMI, and Cryptographic Modernization.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-53 and security control lifecycle requirements.
• Proven ability to lead technical personnel in classified environments.
• PMP certification or equivalent program management experience.
• Security+ certification.
• CISSP or equivalent within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead cryptographic operations, engineering, lifecycle support, and modernization activities for the COMSEC mission.
• Manage technical personnel responsible for COMSEC and cryptographic systems and operations.
• Provide senior-level SME in CMCS, KMI, and Cryptographic Modernization.
• Oversee lifecycle management, deployment, sustainment, and modernization of cryptographic devices and infrastructure.
• Ensure operations comply with security policies and NIST controls.
• Coordinate activities across operations, engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, and stakeholders.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of cryptographic system issues.
• Develop and maintain procedures, guidance, and documentation.
• Identify and mitigate risks affecting cryptographic infrastructure and readiness.
• Participate in reviews, modernization planning, and implementation to ensure continuity.
