Job summary

Sinclair, Inc. seeks a Newscast Director in Seattle to lead live broadcasts using Ross Overdrive automation. You will direct assigned newscasts, manage teleprompter operations, and uphold studio readiness.

Responsibilities include providing code assist with iNews and Ross Overdrive Plugin, maintaining control room workflows, and collaborating with the production team to ensure clean, on-time telecasts.

Qualifications

• Experience directing newscasts using Ross Overdrive.
• Knowledge of production standards and equipment.
• Ability to clearly direct crew under pressure.
• Typing and spelling skills required.
• Read/write ability; college degree preferred.
• Must be able to lift and position 40 lb lighting instruments.
• Flexible schedule; weekends and early mornings.
• Strong work ethic and teamwork.

Job description

An exciting opportunity awaits for motivated candidates wanting to join the KOMO team! We are looking to add a Newscast Director to participate in the production of our newscasts. The ideal candidate would have broadcast production experience and the ability to direct newscasts using Ross Overdrive automation systems. This position includes directing, code assisting, teleprompter operation, and studio preparation and maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Direct any assigned newscast using Ross Overdrive production automation systems.
• Provide code assist duties for assigned newscasts using iNews with Ross Overdrive Plugin.
• Maintain production studio and control room environments, including equipment checks, cable management, and orderly operations.
• Operate teleprompter for assigned newscasts.
• Perform any other production duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Experience directing newscasts using Ross Overdrive
• Knowledge of production standards and equipment
• Ability to clearly give direction to crew while under pressure
• Typing and good spelling skills necessary
• Ability to read and write, college degree preferred
• Must be able to lift & position 40 pound lighting instruments
• Flexible Schedule (Able to work any shift including weekends and early mornings)
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to work effectively with other production team members

The hourly compensation range for this role is $25.03 to $32.37. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
