Job summary

Sinclair Broadcast Group is seeking a Director for our Newscast at WSBT in Mishawaka, IN. The role focuses on directing live broadcasts, coordinating studio operations, and ensuring smooth, high‑quality production under tight deadlines.

You will work with ENPS/NRS and Ross automation, manage graphics, and lead a technical crew to deliver accurate news coverage. Prior stage management and strong organizational skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have strong Directing skills and calm leadership in a live newscast environment.
• Experience with newsroom automation systems (ENPS preferred).
• Comfort with graphics playout, video servers, routers and switchers.

Responsibilities

• Direct the live newscast and coordinate studio operations.
• Maintain production studio and control room to ensure smooth broadcasts.
• Handle additional tasks including potential website contributions as assigned.

WSBT is looking for a Director for our Newscast.

Responsibilities

• Perform any production duties as assigned including:
• Maintain production studio and control room
• Perform other tasks related to the position as assigned, which may include website contribution

Requirements

• Must be able to direct
• Knowledge of Ross Overdrive or equivalent automated systems — helpful
• Possess a working knowledge of NRCS (preferably ENPS), video servers, graphic playout systems (preferably Ross Carbonite), video routers, switchers, robotic cameras, and wireless lavalier microphones
• Stage manager experience is a plus
• A strong sense of newscast structure, significant hands‑on experience operating in a computer‑assisted environment, the ability to work well under pressure, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to easily adapt to breaking news situations
• Live directing and/or switching experience and knowledge of switcher concepts is helpful
• Knowledge of production standards and equipment
• Full working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Ability to clearly give direction to crew while under pressure
• Typing and good spelling skills necessary
• Ability to read and write, college degree preferred
• Must be able to lift & position 40-pound lighting instruments
