Job summary
Washoe County School District is seeking a Paraeducator Assistant I – Newcomer Support to provide targeted instructional and social-emotional support for English Learner students. The role focuses on coordinating school transitions for newcomers and their families, including intake, translation, and progress monitoring in the first year of enrollment.

Qualifications
- Experience with English Learner (EL) programs or newcomer support preferred.
- Ability to coordinate intake/orientation for newcomers and families.
- Strong communication and collaboration with EL staff and district partners.
Responsibilities
- Adapt activities and materials to support language development.
- Provide individual or small-group coaching to access Grade-level content.
- Monitor progress toward language and content objectives; give timely feedback.
- Collaborate with staff to improve language outcomes.
- Support newcomer onboarding, translation, and family communication.
- Attend meetings and participate in professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
