UVA Health's Nurse Residency Program, Winter 2027, invites new graduate nurses to begin a career in an academic medical center with a year-long, mentored residency. You will be placed on a specific unit and gain hands-on practice with protected learning time, supported by preceptors and a growth-focused environment.

The program targets ADN/ BSN/ MSN graduates and leads to professional practice across inpatient, ambulatory, and specialty areas, with competitive unit-based hourly rates and ongoing

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care within your hired specialty.
• Work side by side with experienced RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members in a complex academic medical environment.
• Participate in a structured, 12-month Nurse Residency Program with monthly education sessions focused on leadership development, patient outcomes, and the professional role of the nurse.
• Build clinical judgment, prioritization, and confidence through extended preceptorship and progressive independence.
• Inpatient Nursing: $38.00/hour, Ambulatory Nursing: $36.00/hour, Main OR Nursing: $39.50/hour.
