Job summary

UVA Health’s New Graduate Registered Nurse Residency Program launches your nursing career in an academic medical center that prioritizes growth and mentorship. You will participate in a structured, year-long residency with immersive clinical practice, extended preceptorship, and protected learning time.

The program welcomes ADN, BSN, and MSN graduates, offering placements across inpatient, specialty, and ambulatory settings with ongoing leadership-focused education.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
• BSN required within 5 years of hire.
• Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia; BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence based, patient centered nursing care within your hired specialty (ICU, Pediatrics, Main OR, Ambulatory, and other departments).
• Work alongside experienced RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams in a complex academic medical environment.
• Participate in a structured, 12‑month Nurse Residency Program blending hands-on practice with monthly education sessions on leadership, outcomes, and professional role.
• Build clinical judgment, prioritization, and confidence through extended preceptorship and progressive independence.
• Inpatient Nursing: $38.00 / hour; Ambulatory Nursing: $36.00 / hour; Main OR Nursing: $39.50 / hour.
