Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is launching a 12-month Nurse Residency Program for new graduates to ease transition into practice and build clinical leadership. The program is designed in collaboration with the VCU School of Nursing to foster decision-making and hands-on learning.

Highlights include monthly resident seminars, unit-based learning, and a capstone project to support best practices. The role requires working three 12-hour shifts weekly with every third weekend, under

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved RN nursing program.
• Licensure as an RN in Virginia or a compact state within 90 days of graduation.
• Current RN Licensure in Virginia and BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
• Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an approved nursing program.
• Experience as a LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clinicians work all three shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Schedules, including shift rotations, are established with the Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
• Support continuing education and provide opportunities for team members to advance knowledge.
