Intermountain Health is seeking a New Graduate Radiologic Technologist to join the Utah Valley Float Pool on a PRN, part-time basis. You will perform diagnostic imaging, maintain safety, and support imaging teams across the region while building foundational clinical skills.

Qualifications

  • ARRT(R) certification is required.
  • Utah Radiologic Technologist license is required.
  • BLS certification for healthcare providers is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ARRT or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Verify patient identification, order verification, and prepare patients for examinations.
  • Perform exams per department protocols and review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and maintain a safe environment for patients and caregivers.
  • Complete studies efficiently without compromising quality or patient care.
  • Assist and instruct students and fellow Radiology Techs in exam protocols and equipment use.

What You’ll Do

As a Radiologic Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging examinations using specialized radiographic equipment while providing exceptional patient care and ensuring high-quality imaging outcomes.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains ARRT or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares patients for examinations.
  • Performs exams according to department protocols and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe environment for patients and caregivers.
  • Completes studies efficiently without compromising quality or patient care.
  • Assists and instructs students and fellow Radiology Techs in exam protocols, positioning, procedures, and equipment use.
  • Provides patient education, promotes comfort, and addresses questions or concerns.
  • Practices infection prevention and sterile techniques.
  • Operates imaging equipment and related information systems to ensure quality diagnostic images.
  • Maintains accurate patient records, exam documentation, and procedure information.
  • Follows department protocols related to medical necessity, coding, charging, quality control, consents, and equipment maintenance/reporting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT(R) ) certification
  • Current Radiologic Technologist license in Utah
  • Basic Life Support ( BLS ) certification for healthcare providers
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
