Job summary

Timmons Group in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Civil Project Engineer I to contribute to design and management of large-scale infrastructure projects across land development, water/wastewater, stormwater, transportation, and structural disciplines.

You will design components with AutoCAD Civil 3D, perform calculations, prepare specifications, and support field observations under senior staff, while collaborating with clients and internal teams to deliver quality, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering with relevant coursework.
• EIT preferred; strong foundation in land development and water resources.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; ORD knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design project components using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software.
• Complete calculations and prepare material specs and inspection protocols.
• Support field observation and data collection under senior staff.
• Collaborate with clients and internal design teams to drive project success.
• Assist in cost estimates and prepare technical reports.

Job Description

A Civil Project Engineer I is responsible for designing, building, supervising, operating, and maintaining large construction projects and systems, including roadways, piping systems, utilities, land grading specifications, and other infrastructural systems for commercial and residential building sites. Timmons Group is currently seeking candidates for the following groups:

• Land Development (Commercial, Residential, Public)
• Water/Wastewater
• Stormwater
• Transportation & Traffic
• Structure & Bridge

Essential duties and responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• Design project components usingAutoCAD Civil 3Dand other industry-standard software.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
• Research and prepare material specifications, installation guidelines, and inspection protocols.
• Work to complete design details and plan sets
• Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff
• Collaborate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff
• Contribute to cost estimates and technical reports that drive project success.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree with coursework in land development, and/or water resources preferred
• EIT preferred
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
• Working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer (ORD) is preferred for transportation positions
