Job summary

Timmons Group in Charlottesville, VA is seeking an entry-level Civil Project Engineer I to join our Land Development and Traffic Analysis & Planning teams. The role focuses on design and analysis under supervision, with an emphasis on collaboration and professional growth.

Responsibilities include AutoCAD Civil 3D design, field data collection, preparing materials specifications, and contributing to cost estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• EIT is preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
• ORD knowledge is preferred for transportation roles.

• Perform calculations using engineering formulas and digital tools.
• Research and prepare material specifications, installation guidelines, and inspection protocols.

Timmons Group is currently seeking entry level candidates for the following groups:

• Land Development
• Traffic Analysis & Planning

Essential duties and responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• Design project components usingAutoCAD Civil 3Dand other industry-standard software.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
• Research and prepare material specifications, installation guidelines, and inspection protocols.
• Work to complete design details and plan sets
• Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff
• Collaborate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff
• Contribute to cost estimates and technical reports that drive project success.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• A bachelor’s or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree with coursework in land development, and/or water resources preferred
• EIT preferred
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
• Working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer (ORD) is preferred for transportation positions

Compensation:Our entry level salary for this position beginning in May 2027 will be $80,000. This position is eligible for straight-time overtime. There may be flexibility on salary for experienced candidates.
