Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital is seeking candidates for an RN Residency on the 2 South unit, a 25-bed medicine unit known for compassionate, patient-first care. You’ll work day/night shifts, interact with patients and families, and participate in a residency core curriculum with a dedicated success coach.

Minimum qualifications include ADN or BSN, current RN licensure, and BLS; ACLS is required for critical-care units.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• ACLS certification for critical-care units must be presented on hire or within the first year.
• New grad or less than one year RN work experience or transition from non-inpatient to acute inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care based on acuity, patient preference, and resources.
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision or assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.

Medina Hospital’s 2 South unit is a 25-bed complex medicine unit known for its compassionate, comprehensive and patient-first patient care, highly skilled nursing team and engaging work environment. This unit routinely manages patients requiring procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) placement and peritoneal dialysis treatments. As an RN Resident on this unit, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

The caregiver works a day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

• Day/Night rotation every 6 weeks or straight night shifts.

A caregiver who excels in this role will

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.

• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.

Minimum qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• For critical-care units, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification must be presented upon hire or within the first year of hire.
• New grad or less than one year RN work experience, or RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct-care inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium work—exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
