Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is hiring New Graduate Nurses for the Geriatric, Crisis Stabilization, and Perinatal Psychiatry units. The yearlong New Graduate Residency supports the transition from academia to practice, requiring final nursing school enrollment or recent graduate status and an RN with less than 6 months of practice.

Position offers 36 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts), rotating weekends/holidays, and NCLEX pass with RN licensure prior to start; orientation schedule

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years and obtain a BSN/MSN within seven years.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in North Carolina by the first day of care.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required.
• No prior nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Education: participate in identifying and meeting learning needs; attends programs.
• Evaluation of Care: support plan of care and communicate with team.
• Implementation: provide care for patients with complex problems and follow standards.
• Leadership: collaborate, promote safety and cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment: prioritize needs and anticipate discharge planning.
• Planning: collaborate on care plan with multidisciplinary team.
• Research: review journals and discuss applicability.
