Job summary

Highlands-Cashiers Hospital provides a year-long RN Residency Program to bridge classroom learning to clinical practice. Residents gain hands-on experience under nurse educators and experienced staff, progressing from student nurse to practicing RN.

This paid program includes advanced clinical training, monthly education, preceptorship, and mentoring. The RN Resident delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the care team, guiding patients and families through the care

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS within 1 year of employment.
• Other certifications may be required during employment.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse License in the State of North Carolina.
• No previous experience needed.
• Some travel may be needed for training.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, reporting changes.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other orders; document care.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor responses.
• Provide timely, compassionate care and respond to patient needs.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, plans, medications, and follow-ups; translate complex terms.
