Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is offering a 1-year New Graduate Nurse Residency Program designed to introduce newly licensed RNs to nursing practice across didactic, clinical, and experiential sessions. Participants will be paired with preceptors, work on diverse units, and rotate on rotating shifts with up to 40 hours per week.

The program emphasizes critical thinking, professional practice, and mentorship, with support for successful transition to independent bedside nursing on completion.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Massachusetts RN license verified by Mass.gov.
• Graduates from accredited BSN or ADN program.
• BSN must be completed within 5 years of employment.
• New graduate RN with less than 9 months of work experience.
• Duties include didactic, clinical and experiential learning.

Responsibilities

• Participate in didactic sessions as part of the role.
• Learn to plan, deliver and manage direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Work with preceptors on a unit and rotate across campuses.
• Be scheduled up to 40 hours per week with rotating shifts (days/evenings/nights).
• After program completion, transition to independent RN on a unit as needed.
